About Me
Bobbie S. Redding is the Daughter of John and Carolyn Redding of Burns, Wyoming. Growing up, she had an intense craze for horses, and rodeos. Since she was just a little girl, she had always wanted to be a rodeo star. So much so, that she would go out in the pasture and play like she was riding in a rodeo, but that’s as far as it would go because her parents lacked the funds to spare for a good rodeo horse. Bobbie found people that had horses and started helping them do chores, and basic things like cooling their horses for them after long rides. When Bobbie was in third grade she found her first friend and that was Kacy Hatten. Kacy is now a very well known horse trainer in Wheatland, Wyoming, and Bobbie was able to gain more knowledge when Kacy’s mom, Traci, had Bobbie started helping her work/train colts.
Traci Hatten started to take Bobbie to competitive events, like NCHA cuttings, That is where Bobbie found her dream, as she rode around and around in circles warming up the horses for Traci and Dave Hatten so that they could watch the cattle. She found that horses were really her life and she couldn’t live without a horse.
Bobbie finally got her first horse. She was an Arabian/Quarter Horse mixed, mare, named Galaxy. Bobbie trained her to run barrels and poles and just had fun hanging out with the mare any chance she got. She then began to compete in the gymkhanas, and horse shows, in Wheatland and Douglas, Wyoming.
Not long after that, Galaxy was hurt. She damaged her knee and Bobbie stood by her side, constantly taking care of her. During that time, when someone was looking for Bobbie, all they had to do was go out to the barn and she would be out brushing, reading or just petting her mare. After her Galaxy healed, the vet advised she could be ridden again. Bobbie took things slowly so that she didn’t hurt Galaxy. She wanted to get her back in shape the right way, no matter what. Galaxy never fully recovered, and even though the mare couldn’t run fast, she and Bobbie were both all heart. People would laugh and make fun of them, but Bobbie took it all in stride and always thought about her horse and how she was giving everything she had. Bobbie didn’t care what people would say about Galaxy because she knew the horse better than anybody.
About 20plus years ago, the Hatten's gave Bobbie a two year old horse that had a scar on his back. The horse was pretty sensitive and Bobbie was the only one that could get close to him. This horse was a registered Quarter Horse, named; Drift Up Freckles, Bobbie rode that horse everywhere: to town, the lake, to the small town of Chugwater, and she loved that horse more than the world itself. Well, when the horse turned four, she had to help her family out financially, so she sold that one love, for a price that was sad.
It took Bobbie many years to get over selling Drift Up Freckles, but when Bobbie decided it was time she moved on she started to look for another horse. At that time she found a rescue horse that was in really bad shape. She named her Sandy Down Under. She made time for Sandy and used all of the skills she had learned training, and Sandy became a really great horse.
Bobbie now has much experience with showing and training horses and she never lost that love to be with them as much as possible. Bobbie loves a challenge, and has successfully trained many that have been a challenge for others. Bobbies training methods produce horses that go above and beyond her client’s expectations.
Horses Bobbie now owns that she trained are:
“Buddy Gills Reed”, who's barn name is Cruiser. He a 14yr old chestnut gelding that she was given in November of 2010, he was only a pack horse and the family didn’t have time for him, he wasn’t broke to ride and now he is Bobbies right hand man. She gives lessons with him and competes in breakaway, team sorting, and team penning. Cruiser is now in barrel training, and doing great. He is her back up barrel horse. But is still her go to horse when she needs to relax after a long day. He was rehomed to a great home with kids to love him. He is still going strong at 22yrs old.
Her second horse is ”Bold Stitch Star”, barn named, Stitch. Stitch is now 21yr old grey gelding that Bobbie used to compete on in barrels, and pole bending. Bobbie is starting Stitch in breakaway roping. She takes both horses to gymkhanas and just has fun.Bobbie is all about the horses and making sure that they are enjoying themselves just as much as she is.
She finally gave stitch her mother when she was ready to compete again. Stitch is now retired and love to give pony rides to kids.
A mare named: Girls shay Mona (aka Shay).Shay is a broodmare (never been broke) that was going to slaughter because no one wanted her. Bobbie took her in and fattened her up, then started to ride her bareback. Shay has so much trust in Bobbie that she will do anything Bobbie askes of her. Shay had a foal in 2016 out of Bert’s Frenchman, and is a very nice brood mare too. Shay has since crossed the rainbow bridge.
Bobbie has had alot of horses come in and out to her life. But she has loved everyone of them with all her heart. She is a proud owner of 7horses as off 2024.
Bobbie says:
"There is nothing more satisfying than to see a colt progress, and to see a customer have success with one that I have trained. Being a trainer is a job of SERVICE: helping a customer achieve their equine goals is what it is all about. Find that to be very rewarding. Through many years of training, it has been my goal to put together the best combination of experience, knowledge, and quality; and these result in nothing less than SUCCESS."
